The Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Institute in Fort Worth offers quality healthcare in a friendly, professional environment. Our office, which is located just off Edwards Ranch Road in southwest Fort Worth, is designed to provide patients with a comfortable experience as they go through the process of recovering from injury. At the OSMI, our doctors begin with a conservative approach, offering non-surgical treatment options when appropriate. In some cases, however, conservative treatments are not recommended and surgical options are discussed. We treat shoulders, elbows, wrists, hands, hips, knees, ankles and feet. We also provide non-surgical treatment of spine injuries but do not provide long-term pain management.
- physical therapy
This is what we do. We can help.
- anti-inflammatory prescriptions
- occasional use of stronger pain medications for acute pain
- corticosteroid injections
- viscosupplementation injections
Conservative or non-surgical treatments at The Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Institute include medications, bracing, casting or splinting, injections and physical therapy. Medication treatment can range from anti-inflammatory medicines to the occasional use of stronger pain medications for severe, acute pain. Injections are used when the medication needs to be delivered directly to a certain area. Injections in the office include corticosteroid injections and viscosupplementation injections. Bracing, casting and splinting are used for the appropriate treatment of fractures and severe sprains.
Physical therapy is really the core of recovery at the OSMI. Our physical therapists are highly trained and have years of experience. At our state-of-the-art facility, we provide our physical therapists and patients with the best equipment available to help them return to their regular activities. One of the more unique aspects of treatment available at the OSMI PT is the HydroWorx pool. The HydroWorx pool allows patients to run on a treadmill or perform exercises against a resistive water flow. This allows lower extremity patients to return to jogging earlier due to the supportive nature of the pool.
At The Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Institute our surgeons are fellowship trained in arthroscopic treatment of shoulder, hip and knee injuries, which includes rotator cuff injuries, labral injuries of the shoulder and hip, treatment of a torn meniscus and treatment of torn ligaments like a torn ACL. Arthroscopy allows a minimally invasive approach to repairing all of these issues, which permits a less painful, faster return to function. We also provide general, orthopedic, surgical treatment for injuries like fractures, ligament and tendon tears and arthritis. Surgical treatment for arthritis may include total joint replacement of the shoulder, hip or knee.
Our goal at The Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Institute is to put the patient first in everything we do. If you have an orthopedic issue or injury please give us a call and let us show you what makes the OSMI different and how we can help you get back to the activities you are missing.
