The Orthopedic Surgery & Sports Medicine Institute prides itself on giving back to the community they love. A community foundation enables our staff to build relationships with other like-minded organizations to maximize their charitable support. We try to select volunteer activities that draw upon our strengths as specialists gained in sports medicine and orthopedics.
The following are a few of the ways our staff at the Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Institute is involved in giving back:
Ongoing Community Involvement
Saturday Morning Sports Clinic: September, October and November
During the fall, every Saturday morning from 8 AM. to 10 AM., the staff at The Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine Institute offer injured athletes from the schools with which it is partnered an opportunity to visit its walk-in clinic free of charge. This service is offered in order to provide support and healthcare to those who would have difficulty obtaining it otherwise. The staff treats any sports related injury and gladly provided their services without regard to whether or not the patient is covered by insurance.
Project Access Tarrant County
In addition to the Saturday Morning Sports Clinic, Dr. Boothby also provides free healthcare to those who need it most through Project Access. Project Access Tarrant County is a network of volunteer physicians, partnering hospitals, charitable community clinics, and other healthcare partners who dedicate their time and resources to provide services to qualified patients. Patients who don’t have health insurance and are not receiving government-based healthcare are eligible to participate.

High School Physicals – Preparticipation Physical Examination (PPE)
Taking care of students, and giving back to the local community are priorities for Dr. Boothby and his OSMI staff. Dr. Boothby and staff donate their time to do annual sports physicals. They typically do more than 2000 free sports physicals each year for high school and junior high athletes. It is a great fundraiser for the schools who typically charge a nominal fee for the sports physical that goes towards their sports budget. Dr. Boothby donates that money back to the athletic departments of those schools. Dr. Boothby and his staff believe that the time and resources donated to local high school training programs will enrich the experience of future athletes, one student at a time.

TH Annual Celebration of the Hope of the Gospel
The Orthopedic Surgery & Sports Medicine Institute was proud to sponsor the annual event for this local, non-profit organization making a significant difference right here in Tarrant County and throughout Texas. Hope Prison Ministries, Inc., mentors those in prison and is involved in helping them to be successful after their release. CLICK HERE for a page highlighting the event, which featured Grammy-winning gospel singer, Larnelle Harris, in concert! The event was held in September 2014.
Trident Sports
Dr. Boothby and the staff at OSMI sponsored the Trident Sports Triathlon. The triathlon includes swimming, biking and running and takes place on April 21, 2013. Events include a 300-yard pool swim, 13.1-mile bike, and a 5K run. If you are a beginner or an experienced triathlete, this could be the perfect opportunity for you to challenge yourself and set higher fitness goals for the New Year.
Toys for Tots
The holidays are always a time for spreading laughter, charity and good cheer. Last December, Dr. Boothby and his staff decided to forego the usual White Elephant Gift Exchange. Instead, they did something for the community, and provided children with hope by giving them a beautiful Christmas morning through Toys for Tots. All items were donated at Cleburne Ford on December 5, 2012. Think of it as our way of giving back something useful to those that need it most.
