Elbow Injuries and Disorders
Most elbow pain due to injuries and disorders area result of over overuse from repetitive hand, wrist or arm movements in sports, hobbies and jobs. Your elbow joint is much less prone to wear-and-tear damage than are many other joints, but may occasionally be due to arthritis.
- Pitcher’s Elbow or Little League Elbow Syndrome (Medial Epicondyle Apophysitis): — an injury mainly affecting children and rapidly growing adolescents involved in throwing sports such as baseball
- UCL Injury (Ulnar Collateral Ligament Damage) – Surgery (Tommy John Procedure)
- Tendinopathy (Tendinitis or Tendinosis): Elbow tendinopathy can be caused by sports as well as work-related activities that involve heavy use of the wrist and forearm muscles.
- Tennis Elbow (Lateral Epicondylitis) or Lateral Elbow Tendinosis (outside of the elbow): An injury to the outer elbow tendon
- Golfer's Elbow (Medial Epicondylitis) or Medial Elbow Tendinosis (medial epicondylitis): An injury to the inner elbow tendon
- Bursitis (Olecranon) : Inflammation of a small fluid filled sac (olecranon bursa) on the tip of your elbow
- Contusions (Bruises): A contusion is a bruise caused by a direct blow or repeated blows, crushing underlying muscle fibers and connective tissue without breaking the skin.
- Cubital Tunnel Syndrome (Ulnar Nerve Entrapment ), which occurs when the ulnar nerve on the inside of your elbow is irritated or injured
- Dislocation of the Elbow
- Fracture of the Elbow (Broken Arm)
- Ligament Sprains and Ligament Tears of the Elbow
- Osteoarthritis of the Elbow
- Osteochondritis Dissecans of the Elbow
- Radial Tunnel Syndrome (Resistant Tennis Elbow): The radial nerve becomes compressed just beyond your elbow
- Repetitive Motion Disorders (RMDs) of the Elbow
- Rheumatoid Arthritis of the Elbow
- Strains: A strain is an injury to a muscle and/or tendons.
- Stress Fractures of the Elbow
- Throwing Injuries of the Elbow
- Trapped Nerves of the Elbow
