The clinical team from the Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Institute provides athletic training, physical therapy, occupational therapy, phlebotomy, and medical assistance to OSMI patients in Aledo and Fort Worth, Texas.
Lance Bernard MS, LAT, ATC, OTC – Athletic Trainer
Lance Bernard serves as the certified athletic trainer in the physician practice at The Orthopedic Sports Medicine Institute. Prior to working in the clinical setting, Bernard was employed by Brewer High School and The University of Texas at Austin. He spent 3 years as the head athletic trainer for all sports at Brewer High School and the White Settlement ISD. Bernard also served as an assistant athletic trainer at The University of Texas at Austin for three years, providing medical coverage to the Longhorn football, men’s tennis, and men’s swimming and diving teams.
Prior to being employed at UT, Bernard served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer for the Sycamore football team at Indiana State University, where he received a Master of Science degree in Athletic Training in August of 2005. He also served as an athletic training student at The University of Texas in Austin, where he worked with the football, women’s track and field, and men’s basketball teams. Lance Bernard earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology with high honors from The University of Texas at Austin in December 2003.
Lance Bernard is a BOC certified athletic trainer, licensed athletic trainer in the state of Texas, Orthopedic Technician Certified, and licensed NCT x-ray technician.
Lance and his wife, Jennifer, have two sons, Peyton and Carson. In his spare time, he enjoys working out, spending time with his family, and rooting for the Longhorns.
Ben Hooper LAT, ATC, OTC – Clinic Athletic Trainer / Physician Extender
Ben Hooper serves as a certified athletic trainer and physician extender at The Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Institute, primarily supporting Dr. Todd Moore, DO. Ben’s roles range from physician extender/clinician to surgical first assist. Prior to working in the clinical setting, Ben spent the majority of his professional career as the Head Athletic Trainer at Ennis ISD. Adding to a successful tenure at Ennis, Ben has enjoyed additional success at Kennedale and Jacksonville ISDs.
Ben was a graduate student athletic trainer at Stephen F. Austin State University, where he received a Master of Science in Athletic Training. Prior to that, he was an undergraduate athletic training student at Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology.
Ben is a NATA-BOC certified athletic trainer, licensed athletic trainer in the state of Texas, Orthopedic Technician Certified, Corrective Exercise Specialist, and licensed NCT x-ray technician.
Ben and his wife, Amber, live in the mid-cities area and are expecting their first child in November 2018. In his spare time, Ben enjoys camping, sports, working out, time with his family, and rooting on his beloved Green Bay Packers. Acquiring additional hobbies while at work, he thoroughly enjoys heckling the OSMI orthopedists. He is currently in the process of convincing Dr. Moore that South Carolina Garnet is a knock-off Aggie Maroon, as well as badgering Dr. Boothby about the general population’s disdain of the New England Patriots.
