Michael H. Boothby, MD – Biography
Board Certified and Fellowship Trained in Orthopedic Surgery, Arthroscopic Surgery & Sports Medicine
Michael H. Boothby, MD, is a board certified fellowship trained sports medicine orthopedic surgeon who specializes in complex minimally invasive arthroscopy of the knee and shoulder and total and partial knee replacement. His philosophy is one of teamwork – to unite the physician, the patient and physical therapists to achieve the best outcome for the patient. Dr. Boothby makes every effort to treat conservatively and avoid surgery, unless it is the only or best road to recovery. One of his greatest attributes is his determination to ensure his patients understand their diagnosis and treatment. He educates and encourages his patients to work hard to heal and his manner is always positive and encouraging.
Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Michael Boothby and the Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Institute (OSMI)
Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Boothby founded the Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Institute in 2011 to serve Fort Worth and the surrounding areas with the highest level of orthopedic care available. This care includes orthopedic surgery, sports medicine and advanced physical therapy. Although Dr. Boothby treats all types of orthopedic conditions and sports medicine problems, his specialty is the complex arthroscopic surgery of the knee and shoulder. Dr. Boothby has been awarded several honors for patient care including the Patients’ Choice Award for the last four years.

Working closely with physical and occupational therapists, as well as athletic trainers, Dr. Boothby believes in exhausting all non-surgical options before recommending a orthopedic surgery intervention. Dr. Boothby acts as either sports medicine team physician or chief orthopedic surgery consultant for several local high school football teams including Aledo, Brewer, Crowley, and North Crowley. He also supports many local sporting events. He has served as a Major and Orthopedic Surgeon in the United States Army Reserve retiring in 2011.
In addition to a passion for orthopedic surgery and sports medicine, Dr. Boothby’s interests include spending time with his sons, Thomas and Jonathan, and his wife Dr. Ann Ranelle, who is an ophthalmologist at Fort Worth Eye Associates specializing in both pediatric and adult eye care. He currently lives with his family in Aledo, Texas and enjoys golf, boating, fishing, and watching all types of sports events. His passion is coaching his son’s baseball team.
