We’re excited to welcome Dr. Richard Paul Wilson to our team here at OSMI. Dr. Wilson is a Primary Care Sports Medicine Physician.
As a primary care sports medicine physician, Dr. Wilson specializes in the non-operative treatment and management of orthopedic and musculoskeletal injuries. Some people equate orthopedics and sports medicine with surgery—but the field of sports medicine is actually divided into two general areas: surgical (surgical repair of damaged tendons, ligaments and joints) and primary care, which encompasses all non-surgical care. Many primary care sports medicine physicians work closely with surgeons—and we’re lucky to have Dr. Wilson join our multidisciplinary sports medicine team so that we can continue to provide exceptional care to our patients.
Primary care sports medicine focuses on treating the whole patient to prevent injury, improve performance, and enhance overall health. Anyone who is physically active can benefit from working with a primary care sports medicine physician.
Dr. Wilson is passionate about sports medicine. In fact, when he was introduced to it during his residency, he knew it was an instant match. After his residency, he completed a sports medicine fellowship and then practiced for seven years in San Antonio before joining us here at OSMI.
Dr. Wilson will work with patients to promote fitness, prevent injury, and minimize time away from activity. We’re lucky to have him on board.
