We’re excited to announce that Bret Beavers, MD, has joined our team here at OSMI. Dr. Beavers is a fellowship trained orthopedic shoulder, knee, and hip surgeon who shares our philosophy of putting the patient first. This makes him an outstanding addition to our practice!
With specialty training and expertise in sports medicine, Dr. Beavers is uniquely qualified to help patients return to and maintain an active lifestyle. His fellowship training is in sports medicine, and he specializes in athletic injuries of the shoulder, hip, and knee, as well as other common traumatic orthopedic injuries. And as an active individual himself—an avid cyclist and all-around outdoor athlete—he knows well how important it is for patients to return to their favorite activities.
After earning his medical degree from UT Southwestern in Dallas, where he was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society, Dr. Beavers completed his internship and residency training at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth; there he was voted “Best Orthopedic Resident” and served as Chief Resident. Dr. Beavers then received subspecialty training in sports medicine, arthroscopy, knee, shoulder, and hip surgery at The Steadman Hawkins Clinic of the Carolinas in Greenville, South Carolina; there he worked with world-renowned shoulder surgeon Dr. Richard Hawkins and received specialized training in shoulder arthoplasty. During Dr. Beaver’s time in Greenville, he was an assistant team physician for minor league baseball team Greenville Drive as well assisting with orthopedic sports medicine coverage for the Colorado Rockies spring training.
In Dr. Beaver’s practice today at OSMI, he’s dedicated to optimizing patient outcomes by beginning with a conservative approach and only considering surgery when all nonoperative treatments have been exhausted. When he and his patients conclude that surgery is the best option, Dr. Beavers strives to provide superior surgical outcomes with the use of advanced arthoscopic and open procedures and a treatment plan using evidence based approaches.
Along with the OSMI team, Dr. Beavers is committed to treating all patients with compassion and respect and an understanding that every patient need is different. To that end, he delivers a personalized approach for each patient, whether you are a professional athlete, weekend warrior, or simply want to return to an active and pain-free lifestyle.
Originally from Gilmer, Texas, Dr. Beavers got to know the fantastic medical community in Fort Worth during residency while serving as a board member of the Tarrant County Medical Association. It didn’t take long to realize Fort Worth was where he wanted to establish his orthopedic practice. He lives with his wife Maggie and dog Dixie in Fort Worth.
